Eight years of Al-Jannah Centre: rooted in compassion, growing in excellence
Since 2018 the Centre has supported children with special needs and skills in Kochchikade. A look at this year’s milestones and how to get involved.
Al-Jannah Centre opened its doors in Kochchikade, Negombo, in 2018 with a simple belief: every child deserves the space to learn, grow and shine. In 2026 the Centre marked its eighth anniversary under the theme “Rooted in compassion, growing in excellence”, bringing together the children, families and supporters who make it what it is.
What the Centre does
The Centre supports children with special needs and skills through education, therapy and vocational training. Learning meets each child where they are. Therapy helps children grow in communication, movement and independence. Art, craft and practical skills turn talents into pride and possibility, and each child’s abilities, faith and values are celebrated together with their family.
Small steps, big achievements
This year’s milestones belong to the children, their teachers and their families. Four students sat the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination in 2026. The children’s work was also shown to the public at the Centre’s stalls at the 42nd National Meelad-un-Nabi Cultural Exhibition.
In October the Centre marked World Cerebral Palsy Day, joining the call for greater understanding and accessibility for people with cerebral palsy.

Everyday moments from the classrooms, celebrations and community days are shared on the Centre’s Facebook, Instagram and TikTok pages, and now on the Stories page of this website.
